Collaboration: Rafts & Teams

Cloud Only

Collaboration features are part of the hosted cloud product. Self-hosted standalone does not include shared cloud workspaces.

ADHDev Cloud currently exposes two collaboration models: Rafts and Team Workspaces.

Important current caveat:

  • these surfaces are plan-gated
  • they may not appear in the standard sidebar for every account or rollout stage
  • invite links and direct routes such as /rafts or /team can still be part of the flow when the feature is enabled

Rafts (Personal Teams)

Available on the Pro plan, Rafts are lightweight shared spaces for small groups.

Typical use cases:

  • pair programming
  • tutoring or mentoring
  • sharing live work with one collaborator
  • temporary small-group coordination without seat-based organization billing

INFO

Each Raft member uses their own Pro plan — no seats are consumed from a shared pool.

Raft Privacy Settings

Each Raft has customizable session visibility managed by Admins:

SettingDescription
OpenAll members can view any session freely without approval
Request-basedMembers must request access; the session owner approves or denies. Admins can always view.
Admin OnlyOnly Admins and the Raft owner can view sessions. Other members see status only.

Members are notified (if enabled) when someone starts viewing their session.

Team Workspaces

Available on the Team plan, Team Workspaces are designed for organizations that want shared visibility and seat-based billing.

Typical characteristics:

  • a centralized workspace where member machines and sessions are visible
  • organization-level invites and membership management
  • seat management from billing
  • the same session visibility policies used in Rafts

Session Visibility (Team)

Team Workspaces share the same three-level visibility system as Rafts:

  • Open — all members see all sessions
  • Request-based — approval required per session
  • Admin Only — only admins can view

Accessing Collaboration Surfaces

When collaboration is enabled for your account:

  • Rafts uses /rafts
  • Team Workspace uses /team
  • invite links can land directly in the correct collaboration flow

If those surfaces do not appear for your account, check:

  • your current plan
  • whether the feature is enabled for your account or environment
  • whether you were invited through a direct link instead of the main navigation

Viewing a Colleague's Session

  1. Open the relevant Raft or Team Workspace.
  2. Find the member machine and session you want.
  3. If visibility is Open, connect directly.
  4. If visibility is Request, send a view request and wait for approval.
  5. Once approved, ADHDev opens the live shared session flow.

Inviting Members

Invites are generated from the collaboration surface itself and can be shared by email or direct link.

Depending on the collaboration type and your permissions, you can invite people as:

  • Viewer
  • Member
  • Admin

Requirements

To view another member's session:

  • Their ADHDev daemon must be running and connected to the cloud
  • They must have their IDE or CLI agent open and monitored
  • The Raft/Workspace must be configured to allow your access level

Docs cover both the AGPL OSS project and the hosted cloud service.
